Simple tomato rice becomes a small lava stage for FOODMONSTA builders: rice, strained tomatoes and cabanossi create a quick, warm base that can be turned into different volcano shapes with ketchup lava streams, sour cream clouds and tortilla chip rays.

SUPER EASY
2 SERVINGS

INGREDIENTS

FOR THE RICE
1 pouch ready-cooked rice, or about 250 g cooked rice
200 g strained tomatoes
1–2 cabanossi sausages, set aside a few slices for decoration
Salt and pepper
Marjoram
A little fat for frying, optional
FOR THE FOODMONSTA FIGURES
Tortilla chips for a crown, spikes or sun rays
Ketchup for lava streams and fine fire lines
Sour cream for eruption clouds, smoke trails and drops
Cabanossi slices and one end piece for crater dots and the lava core

PREPARATION

  1. Cut the cabanossi into slices and set aside a few slices plus one end piece for decoration. Lightly fry the remaining slices in a pot with little or no fat.
  2. Loosen the rice inside the pouch until there are no clumps left. If using boil-in-bag rice, cook it first according to the package instructions. Add the rice and strained tomatoes to the sausage in the pot.
  3. Season with salt, pepper and marjoram. Stir well and simmer over medium heat for 3–5 minutes, stirring regularly, until everything is combined and heated through.
  4. The base is ready: spoon the tomato rice into a bowl or onto a plate. Only now get the ketchup, sour cream, tortilla chips and cabanossi decorations ready — then choose a FOODMONSTA figure.
CHOOSE A VERSION
LAVA CRATER
Pile the tomato rice in a bowl into a compact volcano mound. Press a few cabanossi slices into the surface as crater dots. Draw thin ketchup lines from the center outward so clear lava streams appear. Add a generous dollop of sour cream in the center as the eruption cloud.
LAVA CORE
Fill a bowl with tomato rice and smooth the surface lightly. Place one cabanossi end piece flat or slightly angled in the center as the lava core. Draw fine ketchup lines outward in a ray pattern. Place cabanossi slices over the surface as small crater dots and dab little sour cream clouds around the core.
FIRE PLANET
Bonus shape for builders: shape the tomato rice on a plate into a flat, as-round-as-possible fire planet. Draw fine ketchup rays outward from the edge, press small cabanossi pieces into the rice and add sour cream drops in the center. Add tortilla chips all around only at the very end if extra sun rays or spikes are wanted.
