Banana, strawberries and blueberries turn into three simple fruit animals: a banana snake, little strawberry crabs and a strawberry-banana butterfly. With FOODMONSTAS WAFER EYES, each animal gets its face at the very end.

MAKES 3 FRUIT ANIMALS / 2–4 SERVINGS

INGREDIENTS

FOR THE FRUIT ANIMALS
2 bananas, peeled and sliced, plus small banana pieces for crab eye bases and butterfly antennae
1 small pack of strawberries, hulled; some cut into thin slices for the snake and butterfly, some cut into narrow pointed segments for crab legs and claws
A handful of blueberries

PREPARATION

  1. Wash the fruit and pat it very dry. Peel the bananas and cut them into slices. For the crab, cut two small round or oval banana pieces as eye bases. For the butterfly, prepare two very thin banana strips as antennae. Hull the strawberries. Cut some strawberries into thin slices and others into narrow pointed segments.
  2. Choose one little animal and arrange the fruit pieces directly on a plate. Let the pieces overlap slightly so the shapes hold together well.
  3. BANANA SNAKE: Place the banana slices on the plate in a curved S-shape. Let the slices overlap slightly so they form one continuous body. Add a small strawberry at one end as the head, with the tip facing forward. Place a very narrow strawberry piece at the front as a little tongue. Add another small strawberry piece at the other end as the tail tip.
  4. STRAWBERRY CRAB: Place one banana slice in the middle of the plate. Add two small extra banana pieces just above it as eye bases. Cut strawberries into narrow pointed segments. Arrange several small strawberry segments in a fan shape on the left and right to create thin legs. Add two slightly larger pointed strawberry pieces at the upper left and right as claws.
  5. BUTTERFLY: Place four to five banana slices vertically in the center of the plate. Arrange strawberry slices around the banana body as four wing sections: two larger wings at the top and two smaller wings at the bottom. Let the strawberry slices overlap slightly so the wings look fuller. Add a few blueberries as dots on the wings. Place two very thin banana strips at the top as antennae and finish the tips with small strawberry pieces or blueberries.
  6. FOODMONSTA STEP: At the end, add two FOODMONSTAS WAFER EYES (15 mm) to each little animal. For the snake, the eyes sit on the strawberry head. For the crab, they sit on the two small banana pieces above the body. For the butterfly, they sit on the top banana slice. Add the eyes only shortly before serving so the wafer paper does not soften from the moisture of the fruit.
  7. Serve the fruit animals immediately.
