Little Crawlers are small celery critters from the FOODMONSTAS world. Celery sticks, cream cheese or peanut butter, fruit and vegetables turn into simple crawlers that can look a little different every time. Vary them with blueberries, strawberries, cucumber slices, grape heads and chive antennae. With FOODMONSTAS WAFER EYES, every crawler gets its own little face.

MAKES ABOUT 6 LITTLE CRAWLERS / 2–4 SERVINGS

INGREDIENTS

FOR THE BASE
4 celery sticks, washed and cut into handheld pieces
Cream cheese or peanut butter, for spreading
FOR THE CRAWLERS
A handful of blueberries
A few strawberries, halved or sliced
1 cucumber, sliced
White or red grapes, for the heads
Cherry tomatoes, optional for the heads
A few chive stalks, cut into short pieces, for the antennae
A few fresh spinach leaves, optional as a little meadow
FOR THE FACES
2 FOODMONSTAS WAFER EYES per crawler, 15 mm

PREPARATION

  1. Wash the fruit and vegetables and pat them very dry. Cut the celery sticks into handheld pieces. Halve or slice the strawberries, slice the cucumber and cut the chives into short antenna pieces.
  2. Spread cream cheese or peanut butter into the groove of each celery piece. This helps the fruit and vegetable pieces stay in place.
  3. BUILD THE CRAWLERS: Top the celery pieces however you like, depending on your ingredients. For a blueberry crawler, place several blueberries in the groove. For a strawberry crawler, add half a strawberry or a few strawberry slices. For a cucumber crawler, lean a cucumber slice against the back so it looks like a small house or shell. The pieces can overlap slightly and do not all need to look the same.
  4. For the head, place a white or red grape or a small cherry tomato at one end of the celery piece. Add two short chive pieces as antennae by sticking them into the top of the head or placing them close against it.
  5. FOODMONSTA STEP: Add a small dot of cream cheese or peanut butter to each head. Carefully press two FOODMONSTAS WAFER EYES (15 mm) onto it. Add the eyes only shortly before serving so the wafer does not soften.
  6. Arrange the crawlers on a plate. Add a few spinach leaves around them as a little meadow if you like, and serve immediately.
