MAKES 1 TOAST MONSTER

INGREDIENTS

1 large slice of toast bread
2–3 tbsp strawberry cream cheese or very thick strawberry quark
8–10 mini marshmallows
A little blue food gel or thick blue icing, optional, for decoration
1 strip of fruit leather or one sour fruit gummy strip, for the tongue
2 pretzel sticks, halved, for arms and legs
FOR DECORATION

PREPARATION

  1. Toast the bread until lightly golden. Let it cool briefly so it stays stable when you cut it.
  2. Use a small sharp knife to carefully cut a rectangular mouth opening from the center of the toasted bread. Leave enough toast around the edges so the slice stays sturdy.
  3. Spread the strawberry cream cheese evenly over the toast. Spread it close to the edge of the mouth opening, but leave the opening itself clear.
  4. Arrange the mini marshmallows along the top and bottom edges of the mouth opening as teeth. Press them lightly into the strawberry cream cheese so they stay in place. Halve very large mini marshmallows first if needed.
  5. Lay the fruit leather or fruit gummy strip through the mouth opening so it sticks out at the front as a long tongue and falls over the lower edge of the toast onto the plate.
  6. Optionally add a few thin lines of blue food gel or firm icing on top of the strawberry cream cheese to decorate the toast monster.
  7. Slide the four pretzel-stick pieces under the sides and bottom of the toast to create two arms and two legs. Use a small dot of strawberry cream cheese to hold them in place if needed.
  8. FOODMONSTA STEP: Carefully press two FOODMONSTAS WAFER EYES (22 mm) onto the strawberry cream cheese above the mouth. Add the eyes only shortly before serving so the wafer paper does not soften from the moisture.
