INGREDIENTS

FOR THE BASE
80–100 g spaghetti or spaghettini per serving
150–200 g ready-made Bolognese sauce from a jar
FOR THE FACE
2 small carrot pieces, cut long or slightly pointed, for the horns
2 small cucumber slices, for the ears
A little mild sliced cheese, cut into 2–3 small triangles for the teeth and, if needed, small flat pieces as bases for the eyes
FOR DECORATION
2 FOODMONSTAS WAFER EYES, 22 mm, for the classic version or the tentacle version
1 FOODMONSTAS WAFER EYES, 35 mm, for the cyclops version

PREPARATION

  1. Cook the spaghetti or spaghettini al dente according to the package instructions. At the same time, warm the Bolognese sauce in a small pan or in the microwave.
  2. Drain the pasta and twist it into a round nest on a plate. This forms the base of the FOODMONSTA.
  3. Spoon the warm Bolognese into the center of the spaghetti nest and gently shape it into a round face.
  4. Place the two carrot pieces at the top as horns. Slide one cucumber slice slightly under each side of the Bolognese so they look like ears.
  5. Place the cheese triangles along the lower edge of the Bolognese so they look like little teeth.
  6. FOODMONSTA STEP: Let the Bolognese cool for 1–2 minutes, until it is warm but no longer steaming hot. Carefully press two FOODMONSTAS WAFER EYES (22 mm) onto the driest possible spots on the Bolognese. If the sauce is too moist, place the eyes on small pieces of cheese first.
  7. CYCLOPS VERSION: Instead of the two small eyes, place one large FOODMONSTAS WAFER EYE (35 mm) in the center. If the sauce is too moist, place the eye on a small piece of cheese first.
  8. TENTACLE VERSION: In step 2, do not twist the spaghetti into a tight nest. Instead, let a few strands spread loosely outward. Then add the Bolognese, horns, ears, teeth and two FOODMONSTAS WAFER EYES as described.
